A minimum harmonisation in this area is fully justified, given that the euro as a common currency for 17 Member States has a significant role for the economic and financial integration in the EU and the trusts of the EU citizens in the currency is crucial for the financial stability. Therefore, the euro should be protected equivalently throughout the EU.
