At the base of the window in the second panel appear the words: THOU HAST GIRDED ME WITH STRENGTH UNTO THE BATTLE (Psalm 18:39); and in the third panel, the inscription reads: TRUE WORTH THAT NEVER KNOWS IGNOBLE DEFEAT SHINES WITH UNDIMMED GLORY (Horace's Odes).
