What I suggest – something which has been taken on board by the Research Committee – is that we should resolve this conflict, and, moreover, in a positive way by, in the course of the next few years, creating from this Research Fund a Research Foundation which would develop alongside the research framework programme. Funds could be paid into it by Member States, but also from private sources – it is above all the private sources I am thinking of – in order to finance research projects other than into coal and steel.
Je propose - et c’est l’option qu’a retenue la commission de la recherche - que l’on résolve ce conflit de façon positive en faisant de ce fonds dans les années à venir une fondation, qui verrait le jour en dehors du programme-cadre en matière de recherche, une fondation pour la recherche à laquelle les États membres, mais également des personnes privées - je pense avant tout aux personnes privées - pourraient verser des subventions pour financer, à côté du charbon et de l’acier, également d’autres projets de recherche.
