I salute the Union of Canadian Correctional Officers, the UCCO-SACC, which does outstanding work every day to protect us and to make our communities, our cities and our towns safe. Their work is incredibly important for public safety because they ensure that we are safe and that those detained in our prisons are as well.

Je lève mon chapeau, entre autres, au Syndicat des agents correctionnels du Canada, l'UCCO-SACC, qui fait un travail remarquable tous les jours afin de nous protéger et de rendre nos communautés, nos villes et nos villages sécuritaires en faisant un travail extrêmement important pour la sécurité publique, celui de s'assurer que nous sommes en sécurité et que les gens détenus dans nos pénitenciers le sont aussi.

There was general agreement that further projects will be submitted as soon as possible in order to commit before the end of this year most, if not all, of the 12 MECU still left in the 1987 budget. Of the 18 MECU committed up till now 3,5 MECU went to the SACC, 4,5 MECU to the SACBC, 8 MECU to the Kagiso Trust and 2 MECU to the Trade Unions.
