2. Includes the Infrastructure Canada Program, the Canada Strategic Infrastructure Fund, the Border Infrastructure Fund, the Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund and the Public Transit Capital Trust.

Since that time, the federal government has invested billions of dollars in various infrastructure programs, largely directed towards municipal governments. These include current programs which are now sunsetting, such as the Canada Strategic Infrastructure Fund, the Border Infrastructure Fund, and the Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund noted above.

Some 27% of the appropriations will go to rural development (diversification, quality products, renovation of villages, small rural infrastructure), 23% to the processing and marketing of agricultural products, 18% to the modernisation of agriculture (farm investments, the installation of young farmers), 13% to forestry measures, 13% to protection of the natural heritage and 6% to training (agricultural skills, vocational retraining, especially for services close to agriculture, activities concerning nature protection and the development of rural skills networks).
