Provided that the need to use embryos created by cell nuclear replacement is clearly demonstrated on a case-by-case basis with proper consent of the donors and under the regulatory control of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, the Expert Group is willing to support it and concludes that the potential benefit of discovering the mechanism for reprogramming adult cells and thereby providing compatible tissue for treatment justifies this transitional research involving the creation of embryos by cell nuclear replacement.
