En mai 2001, le Ministre des Transports l’honorable David Collenette, a demandé à la présidente du Comité sénatorial permanent des transports et des communications à l’époque, l’honorable Lise Bacon, que le Comité examine les facteurs qui conditionnent le transport par autocar, afin d’intervenir sur ce dernier et d’aboutir à une situation saine, efficace et concurrentielle dans ce secteur.[1] Le Ministre a fourni au Comité un document d’orientation de Transports Canada sur le transport par autocar au Canada, daté de mars 2001.[2]
In May 2001, the Minister of Transport, the Honourable David Collenette, approached the then Chair of the Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications, the Honourable Lise Bacon, with a request that the Committee examine the public policy issues relating to changing conditions in the bus industry that, if varied, might bring about a healthy, efficient and competitive situation in that industry.[1] The Minister also provided the Committee with a Transport Canada orientation document dated March 2001.[2]
