Pour revenir au projet Enbridge Northern Gateway, il y a une question qui a soulevé un intérêt considérable, soit celle de savoir s'il devrait y avoir des pétroliers qui iraient ramasser le produit, peu importe de quoi il s'agit, à l'extrémité d'un pipeline à Kitimat, pour l'emporter à des endroits où, selon bon nombre de personnes, ces pétroliers ne devraient pas se rendre, à savoir la côte Nord de la Colombie-Britannique et l'extrémité nord de l'île de Vancouver.
