Yves Rocheleau (Trois-Rivières, BQ): Monsieur le Président, une véritable catastrophe s'est abattue cette semaine en Mauricie, alors que deux usines ont annoncé, pour juillet prochain, leur fermeture et la mise à pied de près de 750 employés, soit 90 à l'usine Norton de Shawinigan et, comble de malheur, 650 à l'usine Fruit of the Loom, le deuxième plus gros employeur manufacturier de Trois-Rivières où oeuvrent une grande majorité de travailleuses.
Mr. Yves Rocheleau (Trois-Rivières, BQ): Mr. Speaker, a real catastrophe occurred in the Mauricie region this week, with two plants announcing their upcoming closure in July and the lay-off of nearly 750 employees, 90 at the Norton plant in Shawinigan and, to add insult to injury, 650 at the Fruit of the Loom plant, the second largest employer in manufacturing in Trois-Rivières, where a large majority of the workers are women.
