Le 6 avril à 18 heures, le tokamak TORE SUPRA, réalisé par le Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique et dernier-né des grands tokamaks en fonctionnement (JET en Europe, TFTR aux Etats-Unis, JT 60 au Japon), a produit un premier plasma (*) Avant deux ans, ce tokamak devrait atteindre ses performances nominales (courant dans le plasma : 1,7 millions d'ampères; durée de la décharge : 30 secondes).
On April 6 at 6 p.m. the TORE-SUPRA Tokamak, a realisation of the French "Commissariat à l'énergie atomique" and the latest arrival of the large tokamaks in operation (JET in Europe, TFTR in the USA, JT-60 in Japan), produced its first plasma*. Within two years, this tokamak should reach its nominal performance (plasma current: 1.7 million amperes, discharge duration: 30 seconds).
