Honorables sénateurs, je voudrais saisir cette occasion pour féliciter M. Terrett et M. Wallbridge du travail qu'ils ont fait au nom des habitants des îles du Golfe. Je désire également exhorter le gouvernement à adopter le libellé de cette pétition, qui vise à protéger la beauté et le riche patrimoine culturel des îles du Golfe, ainsi qu'à favoriser la tranquillité et la sécurité dans la région, en portant la hauteur minimale de vol à 2 500 pieds, en demandant que les couloirs d'approche soient situés au-dessus de l'eau et en exigeant que toutes les hélices des avions soit munis de trois pales au moins.
Honourable senators, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Terrett and Mr. Wallbridge for their work on behalf of Gulf Islanders, and also to urge the government to adopt the terms of this petition, to protect the beauty and the rich natural heritage of the Gulf Islands, to promote quiet and safety in the region by increasing the minimum flying height to 2,500 feet, by having all aircraft that land on the island approach over water, and by requiring a minimum of three blades on all propellers for all propeller-driven aircraft.
