These projects should develop new models for cooperation between European higher education institutions, in particular addressing the provision of continuous training and professional development, and in the development of learning support services as well as for training teachers, trainers and other educational personnel in the pedagogical use of e-learning; examining quality assurance methods; the development of a better understanding of organisational change and possible risks associated ...[+++] with implementing e-learning in higher education; and the development of European models for public-private partnerships in the field of e-learning in higher education, as well as developing the opportunities opened by new partnerships and funding models.

The HLG recommends to the EU and to the Member States, in cooperation with professional associations, businesses, universities and training institutes, among other to: give tourism in all its aspects a prominent place in the implementation of the European employment strategy, and in the priority actions; ensure that education and training policies and supporting initiatives throughout the EU reflect tourism needs; support the establishment or further development, in coope ...[+++]ration with professional associations, of training and employment advisory units, providing guidance and assistance; encourage partnership programmes between international tourism businesses and education/training institutions; improve the access to existing information mechanisms which could give greater transparency to the tourism labour market; continue ongoing work on the improvement of transnational recognition of qualifications and mobility in tourism; support the development of a joint private-public initiative in favour of young people.

The European Union and the SADC solemnly reaffirm their determination to reinforce their relationship and to establish a comprehensive dialogue with a view to: - Working together to uphold at different fora the purpose and principles of the UN charter; - Supporting democracy at all levels and the rule of law, respect for human rights and protection of minorities, promotion of social justice and good governance and working together to create adequate conditions to eliminate poverty and all forms of racial, political, religious, cultural, linguistic and gender discrimination; - Encouraging the reduction of armaments and, in pa ...[+++]rticular, associating themselves with efforts to exercise restraint in exporting armaments to areas where they are likely to exacerbate conflict; - Supporting an open and increasingly productive and equitable international economy and, in this context, promoting cooperation in trade with and in the Southern African region, in order to enhance its economic development; - Promoting and facilitating domestic and foreign investment in the productive sectors particularly in the processing and manufacturing industries in the Southern African region to enhance the region's economic development; - Encouraging policies aimed at sustainable economic growth for mutual benefit of the populations of and supporting the economic reforms underway, in the Southern African region; - Promoting harmonious economic development through environmentally sound and sustainable management of human and natural resources; - Promoting interregional cooperation through the fostering of contacts in the fields of culture, education and sciences, sport and socio-cultural activities; and - Bearing in mind the need to promote the SADC principles of equity, balance, and mutual benefit in the Southern African Region.

6.2. Business culture, the formation of associations, and training Cooperation will aim to: - strengthen entrepreneurial association-forming and the forms of collaboration between European associations and those in Mediterranean countries; - inform European business of opportunities for cooperating with operators in Mediterranean countries in order to reinforce industrial interaction; - devise programmes to generate a new entrepreneurship by stimulating the capacities of corporate management and staff; - update management ...[+++]and staff training methods with specific reference to international markets, technological development and the supply of specialized services; - start training courses for the managers of associations, designed to upgrade the services offered to business; - disseminate managerial training experiences, by means which include intensifying the links between business, universities and European and international training centres.

Examples of projects supported are : - A project in Russia, led by the Italian Association for Women in Development, which aims to increase knowledge and understanding of the condition of women in Russia and of international legislation relating to women; - A project in Slovakia led by the Institut de Coopération Sociale Internationale (ICOSI) designed to develop democratic practices in the Union of Cooperatives of Slovakia; - In Bulgaria, a project by the Dutch Novib Foundation to encourage citizen participation in local community decision-making processes; - In Tajikistan, a project to be managed by the German Counterpart Foundation aiming at the development of NGO's through training and information activities; - In Poland and Hungary ...[+++], a project sponsored by the Hungarian Civil Society Development Foundation aiming to develop corporate giving to voluntary organisations as well as enhancing advocacy and fund-raising skills; - In Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, a project by the UK Thomson Foundation aiming to provide skills training for 40 journalists in the areas of media and authority.
