Mr. Sorbara was here, and he made reference to an article by David MacKinnon in the Star, pointing out that the percentage of the gross provincial product that goes to equalization is 4.6%. He cross-referenced that to the projected rate of growth in the Ontario economy, which is 3.3%, and he further extrapolated that mathematically it is unquestionable that the competitive nature of the Ontario economy will decrease and that this does not bode well for the capacity of Ontario to reinvest in programs.
