We are asking that our history be more than just instances of official commemoration chosen by the government. It must be a window into the past that belongs to all of us, and it should reflect our many complex and multi-faceted journeys, including the history of the black Loyalists, the Winnipeg unionists in the early 20th century, the creators and pioneers of the National Film Board, the War Measures Act and the deportation of the Acadians.
Nous demandons que notre histoire ne soit pas qu'une question de commémoration officielle choisie par le gouvernement, mais qu'elle soit un regard sur notre passé qui nous appartient à tous, qu'il s'agisse du reflet d'un parcours complexe et aux multiples facettes ou de l'histoire des Loyalistes noirs, des syndicalistes à Winnipeg au début du XX siècle, des créateurs et des pionniers de l'Office national du film, de la Loi sur les mesures de guerre ou de la déportation des Acadiens.
