This would permit that type of document, that is, the report of the juge d'instruction, to be sent to us and be given to a Canadian judge, who would look at that report and then determine on the basis of that report whether or not there's dual criminality, whether there's a sufficient amount of evidence such that if the person were tried in Canada the person could be committed to stand trial.
La mesure proposée permettrait qu'un document de ce genre, c'est-à-dire le rapport du juge d'instruction, nous soit envoyé et remis à un juge canadien, lequel examinerait ce rapport et se fonderait là-dessus pour décider s'il y a application du principe de la sanction réciproque, s'il y a suffisamment d'éléments de preuve pour que, si la personne en cause était jugée au Canada, cette personne soit assignée à procès.
