Turning finally to criminal law protection of financial interests, while not all the Commission's efforts in this area were successful (a case in point is the proposed amendment of the Directive on the criminal law protection of the Community's financial interests [12]), significant progress has been achieved, notably the entry into force on 17 October 2002 of the first Convention instruments for the fight against fraud first proposed eight years ago (the Convention on the protection of financial interests [13], the first protocol to this convention [14] and the protocol relating to the jurisdiction of the Court of Justice [15]).
Enfin, sous l'angle de la protection pénale des intérêts financiers, si les efforts de la Commission n'ont pas tous abouti, à l'instar de la proposition modifiée de directive relative à la protection pénale des intérêts financiers de la Communauté [12], des progrès importants ont été réalisés, dont l'entrée en vigueur, tant attendue depuis huit ans, le 17 octobre 2002, des premiers instruments conventionnels pour la lutte contre la fraude (Convention relative à la protection des intérêts financiers [13], premier protocole à la convention « PIF » [14] et protocole relatif à la compétence de la Cour de justice [15]).
