Thus, the association, based on a broad cooperation model, must contribute to the realisation of the fundamental objectives shared by both blocs: the promotion of economic and social progress and the strengthening of economic and social cohesion, as required by the Treaty on European Union, together with economic development with social justice, an objective enshrined in the treaty establishing MERCOSUR.
Ainsi, l'association, fondée sur un modèle de coopération élargie, doit contribuer à la réalisation des objectifs fondamentaux que partagent les deux groupes de pays: la promotion du progrès social et économique et le renforcement de la cohésion économique et sociale, comme le stipule le Traité de l'Union européenne, ainsi que le développement économique assorti d'une justice sociale, objectif inscrit dans le traité instituant le Mercosur.
