In September 1991 and July 1992 respectively, the Commission received complaints from Masterfoods Ireland Ltd (Mars) and Valley Ice Cream Ltd relating to the distribution arrangements operated by HB Ice Cream Ltd (a subsidiary of the Unilever group, now trading as Van den Bergh Foods Ltd) for its impulse ice cream products in the Republic of Ireland.
