The adoption of this new legal instrument is a potential incentive to stimulate South-South trade, which can contribute to the economic growth, economic diversification, reduction of poverty, and democratisation of the region and also foster social, trade and economic integration amongst Southern Mediterranean countries, given that intensifying this integration has been a major objective of the EU’s Euro-Mediterranean policy since the Barcelona Process.
L'adoption de ce nouvel instrument juridique pourrait stimuler le développement des échanges Sud-Sud et contribuer ainsi à la croissance économique, la diversification de l'économie, la réduction de la pauvreté et la démocratisation de la région, de même qu'au renforcement de l'intégration sociale, commerciale et économique des pays méditerranéens du Sud, qui constitue en outre l'un des principaux objectifs de la politique euro-méditerranéenne de l'Union européenne depuis le processus de Barcelone.
