The proposal for a directive on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purpose of money laundering (including terrorist financing) therefore belongs in the grey area in which individual rights and freedoms may have to be sacrificed in the higher general interest of preventing and repressing terrorist activity.
La proposition de directive relative à la prévention de l’utilisation du système financier aux fins de blanchiment de capitaux, y compris le financement du terrorisme, devrait donc s’inscrire dans cette zone grise où les droits et les libertés individuelles risquent d’être supprimés en vertu d’un intérêt général supérieur à la prévention et à la répression des activités terroristes.
