Criticises the EU’s insistence on the deficit criteria and on measures established within the Maastricht Treaty and confirmed by the Lisbon Treaty, which is tending to sink the Greek economy into a deep recession and to create very negative implications not only for the Greek people, but also for the other European economies; underlines that the speed of the demanded reduction in Greece’s public deficit is irresponsible and will only deepen the crisis;
