Accordingly, pursuant to the Charter and as announced in its action programme, the Commission has just proposed a groundwork of basic provisions on certain aspects of the organization of working time conneced with workers' health and safety at work which relate to : - minimum daily and weekly rest periods; - minimum conditions determining the recourse to shift and especially night work; - protection of workers' health and safety in the event of changes in working patterns resulting from adjustments in working time.
