This has not altered in the slightest my admiration for the man - and, in any event, it is hard to be fond of someone unless you admire them a bit - but this admiration sometimes threw me into acute embarrassment when, after a performance in which he had starred, I went to pay my respects to him in his dressing room - as he was expecting, of course!
Cela n'a rien changé à l'admiration que je lui porte - et, de toute façon, il est difficile d'aimer quelqu'un si on ne l'admire pas un peu - mais cette admiration avait parfois pour résultat de me jeter dans un embarras suprême quand, après un spectacle dont il avait été la vedette, j'allais le saluer dans sa loge - comme il s'y attendait, bien entendu !
