Mr. Figueroa challenged the constitutionality of the requirement that half of the $1,000 candidate nomination deposit be refunded only if the candidate received 15 per cent of the vote cast in his or her electoral district; the automatic deregistration upon failure to endorse 50 candi dates; the requirement that only candidates of registered parties be entitled to have their party's name on the ballot; and the liquidation of the assets of the registered party which failed to nominate 50 candidates.
