While the Committee initially had some concern that an APO might not choose to get involved even when a flight attendant or passenger faced a life-and-death situation with a violent passenger, Deputy Commissioner Loeppky assured us that the APOs are trained to “react to any security threat on board an aircraft that may jeopardize the integrity of, or unlawful interference with, civil aviation, and respond to threats of death or grievous bodily harm”.
