The primary objective of the negotiations was to agree on a legal framework which would guarantee to the European nuclear industry, whenever it operates with US-obligated materials, security of supply, stability and long-term predictability. The Commission considers that these objectives have been attained, since the new agreement, which will remain in force for at least 30 years, followed possibly by subsequent 5-year roll-over periods, guarantees the following framework as long as it remains in force: 1.
