In its judgment in case C 297/12 (Filev/Osmani) the ECJ reaffirmed that the maximum time-limits for entry bans provided in the Directive also apply to ‘historic entry bans’ which had been issued before the entry into force of the Directive.

A judgement of 19.9.2013, in case C 297/12 (Filev/Osmani) relates to the validity of "historic" entry bans issued before the entry into force of the return directive as well as rules on the length of entry bans.
