The Commission is seeking to highlight this new ESF priority to support the reform and modernisation of public administrations and public services, in order to help attain sustainable socio-economic growth and good governance.

The ESF contributed to training and retraining measures whilst the ERDF helped to develop the necessary infrastructure and equipment. For example, infrastructure projects for the Vlaamse Dienst voor Arbeids Bemiddeling, a government run job placement service as well as training centres for the self- employed in Hasselt and Genk.
