In all honesty, Mr. Chair, while the parliamentary secretary put this forward in terms of how could anybody not support it, as if we're giving a privilege to independent members, I think this is a consequence of the last omnibus bill on which an independent member, because they couldn't put forward amendments in committee, was allowed, and rightly so, to put forward amendments in the main chamber, and each of those amendments had to be voted on in the House of Commons.
En toute honnêteté, monsieur le président, alors que la secrétaire parlementaire propose cette motion en se demandant comment des députés pourraient s'y opposer, comme si nous accordions un privilège aux députés indépendants, je crois que cette démarche est une conséquence du dernier projet de loi omnibus, au sujet duquel un député indépendant, parce qu'il ne pouvait proposer d'amendements devant un comité, a été autorisé, et ce n'est que justice, à présenter des amendements à la Chambre, laquelle a dû mettre aux voix chacun de ces amendements.
