- Recalls the important role of research, both horizontal and sectoral, in contributing in the coal sector to the development of innovative mining techniques for the extraction of fossil energy sources and in the steel sector to the development of materials (new types of steel), to the development of new metallurgical processes, to enhanced recyclability and energy savings, and to lower-cost production, thereby securing new markets;
- rappelle la contribution importante que la recherche, tant horizontale que sectorielle, apporte, dans le secteur du charbon, au développement de techniques minières novatrices d'extraction de matières premières énergétiques fossiles et, dans le secteur de l'acier, au développement de matériaux (nouveaux types d'acier), à la mise au point de nouveaux procédés métallurgiques, à l'augmentation des capacités de recyclage et à la réalisation d'économies d'énergie ainsi qu'à la réduction des coûts de production et, partant, à la création de marchés;
