The aim will be to increase the freight capacity of local ports by 250,000 tonnes by 1993 and, through developments such as the provision of new quay space, mooring dolphins and port service areas, to increase ship handling capacity at the key local ports of Foynes, Dundalk, Drogheda and Galway.
