Since that time, the federal government has invested billions of dollars in various infrastructure programs, largely directed towards municipal governments. These include current programs which are now sunsetting, such as the Canada Strategic Infrastructure Fund, the Border Infrastructure Fund, and the Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund noted above.

The construction of broadband infrastructure and Internet take-up is supported by the Structural Funds and Rural Development Funds.

The 2002 reports describe the first actions and expenditure on measures part-funded by the EAGGF Guidance Section, involving in particular rural infrastructure, forestry, premiums for the installation of young farmers and for investments on agricultural holdings.
