‘on-board diagnostic (OBD) system’ means a system on board a vehicle or connected to an engine which has the capability of detecting malfunctions, and, if applicable, of indicating their occurrence by means of an alert system, of identifying the likely area of malfunction by means of information stored in computer memory, and of communicating that information off-board;
«système de diagnostic embarqué (OBD)» ou «système OBD», un système embarqué dans un véhicule ou connecté à un moteur qui a la capacité de détecter des dysfonctionnements et, le cas échéant, de signaler leur survenance par l’intermédiaire d’un système d’alarme, d’identifier le domaine probable de dysfonctionnement au moyen d’informations stockées dans une mémoire d’ordinateur et de communiquer ces données aux fins de consultation;
