La CEDH doit constituer la base de départ, avec la jurisprudence de la Cour européenne des droits de l'homme et la Charte des droits fondamentaux de l'Union européenne, et non le point d'arrivée de la politique de l'Union européenne dans la définition des droits et des libertés fondamentales de l'accusé-citoyen européen.
The ECHR, together with the case law of the European Court of Human Rights and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, should be the starting point, but also the finishing point of EU policy when it comes to defining the fundamental rights and freedoms of the European citizen-defendant.
