A. condemning the fact that, on 24 August 2000, Mrs Aung San Suu Kyi, winner of the Nobel Prize and the Sacharov Prize, was prevented by the Burmese authorities from travelling to Dala to take part in a political meeting of the National League for Democracy (NLD) of which she is president, and that she is still road-blocked in open country approximately twenty kilometres from Rangoon with some ten other leading members of the League,
