La Déportation qui, au départ, se voulait un procédé radical d'assimilation du groupe acadien en le disséminant en petits groupes à l'intérieur des colonies britanniques, a eu des conséquences très négatives sur le groupe acadien, mais l'une des conséquences positives, c'est que le renforcement de l'appartenance au groupe a été cimenté de telle façon que les descendants de ces déportés se sont reconnus comme formant un groupe.
The Deportation which initially was intended to be a radical means of assimilating Acadians, by dispersing them in small groups across the British colonies, had extremely negative consequences for Acadians as a group, but one of its positive impacts was that it strengthened their identification with the group to such an extent that the descendants of the deportees saw themselves as forming a group.
