In presenting this communication to the Commission, Vice- President Karl-Heinz NARJES emphasized, that "an agressive strategy, a quantum leap and speeding up and increase of efforts will mark the realisation of the European scientific and technological Community", something which should now be within reach thanks to the public debate spurred by the EUREKA initiative and the support by Member States and industry of Community actions in science and technology, all of which has led to a keen European awareness of this vital issue!
