Mr Delors was the driving force behind many major European projects, including the Single Market (the 1992 Objective), the Delors Packages I and II, the revival of European social dialogue and the Single European Act (1986, his "favourite treaty").

Several guests including Jacques Delors, former president of the European Commission, and Michel Delebarre, president of the Committee of the Regions (CoR), will be attending the conference, which will discuss European identity from the perspective of common values, the European social model and policies which display a European character.
