An aluminium alloy or unalloyed aluminium shall be defined according to its method of manufacture, its nominal chemical composition and the heat treatment undergone by the cylinder, the latter's resistance to corrosion and its mechanical properties.

The estimated total budget required for this programme is 110 million ECU broken down as follows: RAW MATERIALS: - Primary raw materials (prospecting, mining 30 million ECU engineering and ore processing) - Secondary raw materials (recycling of non- ferrous metals and utilization of waste) 22 million ECU - Wood as a renewable raw material (wood production and utilization) 20 million ECU ADVANCED MATERIALS: 38 million ECU - Metal alloys - Technical ceramics - Composites The funds are to be used primarily for shared-cost research contracts (Community participation up to 50%) with industry, research laboratories and universities.
