Le VPD a étudié la possibilité d'un SIS dans le cadre d'un processus de gestion facilité et il a tiré deux conclusions: en premier lieu, notre expertise relève du domaine du maintien de l'ordre et de la sécurité publique et non pas de la santé et de la recherche sur la santé, et nous devrions toujours faire preuve de prudence lorsque nous décidons d'appuyer ou de contester les initiatives de santé publique ou les recherches sur le sujet, étant donné que ce n'est pas notre spécialité; en second lieu, peu importe si nous sommes en accord ou en désaccord avec l'idée d'un SIS, nous devions participer au processus.
The VPD examined the question of an SIS during a facilitated managerial and executive process and came to two conclusions: one, that our expertise is in policing and public safety, not in health and health research, and therefore we should always be cautious when and if we choose to support or criticize public health initiatives and/or research, given that our expertise lies elsewhere; two, that regardless of whether we agreed with the concept of an SIS or not, we needed to be at the table.
