The Commission will also be examining whether any further state aid has been granted since the aid notification to enable the yards to continue to operate despite growing losses; and whether the activities of the Astano yard (building of floating, production, storage and offloading vessels) are compatible with the condition attached to the authorisation of a previous aid package in 1991 that the yard should be closed to shipbuilding.
