Étant donné l’inquiétude provoquée, au Royaume-Uni, par le récent épisode de grippe aviaire, le gouvernement britannique n’aurait-il pas pu, sur la base du principe de précaution, choisir de suspendre en toute légitimité les importations de volailles de Hongrie pour une courte période, alors que l’ampleur de la maladie était confirmée dans ce pays, sans que la Commission ne soit obligée d’intenter un procès au Royaume-Uni?
Given the public concern in the UK surrounding the recent avian flu outbreak, is it not correct that the UK Government - on the basis of the precautionary principle - could have legitimately chosen to suspend imports of poultry from Hungary for a short period while the extent of the outbreak there was confirmed, without the Commission being compelled to take the UK to Court?
