In its decision, taken in the light of the 1987-1989 Code on aid to the synthetic fibres industry(1) which was in force at the time of its earlier, annulled decision, the Commission decided as follows: - first, the financing of the land cleaning operation (40 000 000 FF) did not constitute aid. - second, certain parts of the investment supported by aid - polymerisation and related chemical activities for the production of high viscosity chips - were outside the scope of the 1987-1989 Code.
