considérant que, pour les harengs importés du 16 juin au 14 février à l'état frais, réfrigéré ou congelé, la Communauté s'est engagée à ouvrir, chaque année, un contingent tarifaire communautaire dans la limite d'une quantité de 34 000 tonnes à droit nul, sous condition du respect du prix de référence; qu'il convient donc d'ouvrir, pour la période allant du 16 juin 1988 au 14 février 1989, le contingent tarifaire en question, en tenant compte de l'obligation de respecter le prix de référence fixé;
Whereas the Community undertook to open an annual duty-free Community tariff quota for 34 000 tonnes of herrings, imported from 16 June 1988 to 14 February 1989 in a fresh, chilled or frozen state, subject to compliance with the reference price; whereas, therefore, it is appropriate to open, for the period 16 June 1988 to 14 February 1989, the duty-free tariff quota in question, bearing in mind the obligation to comply with the reference price fixed;
