The purchaser will be able to acquire complete the lithographic business of that mill (hot and cold mills and finishing lines), as well as an additional foil stock cold mill.

- Work with blast furnaces, direct reduction plants, steelworks, rolling mills, metalworks, forging, drop forging, hot pressing and drawing plants.

Associated with these investments the undertaking's crude steel capacity will be reduced from 300,000 tonnes to 200,000 tonnes and, by replacing its two hot-rolling mills by one modern mill, its capacity for production of hot-rolled finished products will be reduced from 340,000 tonnes to 150,000-180,000 tonnes.

The restructuring and modernization plan, which would involve the loss of a further 1 500 jobs, provides for a series of measures: - Plant closures . the blast furnace, which has the capacity to produce 1.8 million tonnes of pig iron, but actually produced only 700 000 tonnes in 1992; . the 0.45 million tonne capacity hot strip slitting plant, which produced 0.02 million tonnes of thin strip in 1992; - Capacity reductions and modernization . reduction of crude steel production capacity from 2.1 to 0.9 million tonnes by replacing the old steel converter with a modern electric steel furnace; . reduction of cold rolling capacity from 1.67 to 1.22 million tonnes by closing down some rolling mills; - New plant . construct ...[+++]ion of a modern hot rolling mill with a capacity of 0.9 million tonnes.
