Le 12 juin 2007, devant l'indifférence du gouvernement et toujours soucieux de lutter contre la prolifération des algues bleues, le Bloc québécois a déposé et a fait adopter au Comité permanent de l'environnement et du développement durable une motion qui recommandait au gouvernement fédéral d'agir afin d'éliminer la concentration de phosphore dans les détergents pour lave-vaisselle et pour buanderie.
On June 12, 2007, given the government's lack of concern, and its own desire to fight against the spread of blue-green algae, the Bloc Québécois tabled a motion, that was adopted by the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development, recommending that the federal government phase out concentrations of phosphorous in dishwasher detergents and laundry detergents.
