14. Welcomes the decision of the Islamic Summit Conference of 14-15 August 2012 to suspend the Syrian Arab Republic's membership of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and all its subsidiary organs, specialised and affiliated institutions;

The European Commission has invited to the meeting high-level representatives from EU Member States, the United States, Norway, Brazil, the United Nations, the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, as well as Ambassadors of countries in the Sahel and representatives of two regional organisations (ECOWAS and UEMOA) and civil society representatives.

The EU will remain in close contact with the League of Arab States, the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Gulf Cooperation Council and other regional organisations with the aim of providing a forum for coordinating their action on Syria in support of the League of Arab States' initiatives with regard to the Syrian crisis.
