These provisions are important reminders to officials responsible for administering legislation, to the judges interpreting it, and to the public using it that Parliament was mindful of constitutionally-protected aboriginal and treaty rights when it enacted a law, and that it had no intention of adopting any measures that would detract from or erode those rights.
